Who Can Apply
Bar Membership is open to:
- Advocates enrolled to practice law in Uganda, and
- Who are current members of the Uganda Law Society (ULS),
- Actively engaged in private legal practice.
Purpose of Bar Membership
Bar Membership forms the core constituency of the Private Lawyers Forum. It provides a unified platform through which private legal practitioners collectively advance their professional, economic, and ethical interests.

Professional Representation & Advocacy
- Representation before the Uganda Law Society, Judiciary, Law Council, and relevant government institutions.
- Collective advocacy on issues affecting private practice, including legal fees, taxation, licensing, court administration, and practice regulations.
- Participation in justice sector reform dialogue and policy engagement.
Professional Development
- Access to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programs aligned with Law Council requirements.
- Practice management training, legal updates, and professional seminars.
- Opportunities to contribute to legal research and law reform initiatives.

- Eligibility to join the PLF Members’ SACCO for affordable credit services.
- Access to welfare schemes, insurance initiatives, and member support systems.
